Elaborating biocontrol product against root rot caused by Heterobasidion annosum

The main goal of this project is to elaborate a biocontrol product containing propagula of Phlebiopsis gigantea fungi, which can effectively control of root rot disease (caused by Heterobasidion annosum).The root rot disease is one of the important problems in coniferous forests in Hungary. The main steps of the project are: 1., screening the Phlebiopsis culture collection of HFRI, 2., isolating new Phlebiopsis strains from the forests of the consortium members, 3., isolating and culturing Heterobasidion strains and determining their biotypes, 4., developing industrial Phlebiopsis production method, 5., elaborating and setting up the application techniques of Phlebiopsis product into the practice.
