Elaborating biocontrol product containing entomopathogenic nematodes against Colorado Potato Beetle
Project ID No.: Baross-EA07-ONKFI-07-2008-0015 (01/06/09 - 31/05/11)
The aim of this project is to elaborate a new biocontrol technique against the most harmful insect pest of potato, the Colorao Potato Beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata). The project includes the screening of the available entomopathogenic nematode strain collection for effective strains against the pest insect; the laboratory and field trials with the nematodes; developing of an in vitro liquid mass production techniques for the most effective nematode isolates; and studying the possible formulation methods. The goal is to develop an innovative, successful biocontrol product using the research results of this present project, and to make the organic potato production safe.
