Foundation of a spin-off company for elaborating, producing and selling of biological control products

With spreading of environmentally sound production systems and restriction of some harmful insecticides, soil dwelling pathogens (first of all grubs of Melolontha melolontha in our region) cause more and more damage in plant production. After successful research projects of past years we possess a base of a biological control technique, which can suppress insect infection to economically tolerable level. But the biological control agent, entomopathogenic nematodes are sensitive to heat, UV radiation and desiccation, therefore poor storage survival is the major obstacle to the expanded use of entomopathogenic nematodes as biopesticides. Elaboration of a formulation which improve storage stability can create a new market segment. The aims of the present project are to find the most optimal product formulation, to patent the new method (or product), and to introduce the new product to the market by consultation with the growers. This project is intended to carry out in the framework of a new spin-off company.
